Cooling Towers, backed-up technically to maintain the parameters
…so as to run a successful corrosion and scaling free operation of the system
As evaporative coolers used for cooling water or other working medium nears the ambient wet-bulb air temperature with two imperative projects namely, The EMICOOL Cooling Tower and the Jumeirah Lake Towers District Cooling Plant, Corodex’s operations simultaneously draw significant services from pre-system analysis, regular site visits, installation of corrosion coupon assembly, automatic dosing system, and training sessions for site engineers to 24/7 on-call service.
Cooling towers can not only be used solely to remove the heat absorbed in the circulating cooling water systems used in these industrial facilities. Water treatment of open recirculation system plays a viable chore to three connected cooling towers of EMICOOL with a water volume of 325 cubic meters and a cooling capacity of 12,000 tons. The fourth with the same type and size is under installation.
Since the goal of such projects is particularly centered to producing water without adverse ecological impact, it is a requisite as well to control scales and deposits to maintain facility heat transfer efficiency while preventing the corrosion to prolong the equipment life-span.
This is very true with Palm District Cooling, having a capacity of 140,000 tons, wherein application of special 6 months lay up protection by a unique chemical called Protecsol took place after providing manpower, equipment like circulation pumps, tanks, piping manifolds, flanges, etc… and doing all piping connections and all the flushing activities and final hand over.
Corodex prides itself the ability to provide expert technical solutions. A|S
Not yet over for EfloSAF following a global competitive tender competition for three decades

EfloSAF is the process based on submerged aerated biofilter using a fixed film, attached biological growth process. At least more than 500 units were installed worldwide.
A fully packaged and compact sewage treatment plant, consisting of 4 parallel lanes, each of 250 m3/day capacity was availed by Nakheel. Each lane includes a Balancing tank, Bioreaction tank, Sludge holding tank, Secondary Settling tank, a machinery room, and a common effluent storage tank.
After 3 decades of specializing Wastewater Treatment Equipment and Plants, Corodex Industries maintains its noteworthy projects in the region with the intent of designing, supplying, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of various water & wastewater treatment equipment. A|S
Al Jaddaf Electromechanical, benchmarking the requirements of time
Written by:| Ahmad Al-Shuha & Andrew S. Samson
After selecting the best one qualifying financial and technical benchmarks for a project at Al Yasat Al Soghrih Island, the Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority (ADWEA) had favored Concorde Trading Co. (Al Jaddaf Electromechanical) in October 2006 for the SWRO plant project in the island.
The project entails the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Plant 2M gallon/day from October last year until June this year. The quality of the treated water from this SWRO will match the recent UAE drinking water standards in terms of Boron. This SWRO plant will be one of the first SWRO’s in the U.A.E. to match its drinking water standards in terms of Boron new limits in drinking water.
The SWRO plant will include a 2nd pass working at high pH to be able to get the Boron below than the required new limits of 0.5 ppm or less. SWRO has been commercially used since the early 1970s, while its energy requirements are lower than the other processes of desalination.
Al Jaddaf Electromechanical continues to provide satisfactory services through SWRO and other water and wastewater treatments, supported by the wide background of CCG group of companies in those fields.
Pushing a solution through a filter, pushing RO sales to its peak
Corodex has a wide range of Reverse Osmosis systems with options that can meet all specifications of the clients, also spreads its savvy to provide an overall operational efficiency.
An innumerable cognizance was garnered for winning the trust shown in these feats, being awarded a pilot unit for ADWEA research center to study all issues in future RO technology: MF/UF conventional pre-treatment, 3 stages RO modules, high temperature feed, NF stage for softening ahead of RO, and Boron removal.
Secondly, a 4000 CMD RO plant for Occidental in Oman to treat highly brakish underground water with high concentration of Hydrogen Sulphide was accorded.
Lastly, Corodex Industries was awarded a 9500 CMD SWRO plant with a second pass for Boron elimination down to below 0.5 ppm in compliance to the latest ADWEA regulations.
Just last year, Reverse Osmosis units were designed, manufactured, installed, and commissioned to the following: Concorde Al-Ain (Gulf Drilling)- 8,000 GPD capacity, Higleig Petroleum Services & Investment in Sudan- 22,000 GPD, Remal Al Sahra (Al Mawred Co.) in Libya- 52,000 GPD, Specialist General land Transport Services in Dubai- 50,000 GPD, Al Diwan Development in UAE- 5,000 G/D, World
of Water in Jordan– 50,000 G/D, and I.G.T.C. in Qatar– 10,000 G/D.
These activities had remarkably doubled the RO sales from below AED 30 million to above AED 70 million ($ 8 to $ 20 million).
Treated water supply and wastewater reuse are the really big challenges facing the gulf region. The water section is certain to draw as there is a huge and adequately-funded market here for new products and services. A|S
WATER TRIVIA
Water expands by about 10% as it freezes.
Hot water freezes quicker than cold water.
If you slowly pour a handful of salt into a totally full glass of water it will not overflow. In fact, the water level will go down.
The overall amount of water on our planet has remained the same for two billion years.
In a 100-year period, a water molecule spends 98 years in the ocean, 20 months as ice, about 2 weeks in lakes and rivers, and less than a week in the atmosphere.
Frozen water is 9% lighter than water, which is why ice floats on water.
The total amount of water in the body of an average adult is 37 litres.
Human brains are 75% water.
Human bones are 25% water.
Human blood is 83% water.
Four litres (1 gallon) of gasoline can contaminate approximately 2.8 million litres (750,000 gallons) of water.
Over 70,000 different water contaminants have been identified.
Freshwater animals are disappearing five times faster than land animals.
Over 90% of the world’s supply of fresh water is located in Antarctica.
Less than 1% of the water supply on earth can be used as drinking water.
Water leaves the stomach five minutes after consumption.
Two Mobile Laboratory units in 2006 … and there are more to come
The Laboratory and Process Instrumentation Division had added feather to Corodex's cap in 2006 when it was able to furnish two mobile laboratory units to the Ministry of Environment & Water Resources of Dubai and the Qatar General Electricity & Water Authority, and there are more to come in the years ahead, according to Laboratory and Process Instrumentation Division Head, Mr. Manuel Dimabayao.
The mobile laboratory serves as an effective facility for research-analysis and a powerful educational tool with its wide range of the latest technology in lab & process accessories for being completely independent, self-sufficient, and highly-efficient in carrying out its tasks.
One unit of Mobile Commercial Laboratory is slated at approximately AED 750,000.00 with an expected annual sales output of AED 1 million for analytical testing.
Mr. Dimabayao has confirmed his team's success for exceeding its budget due to the creation of new departments, namely the Laboratory Department that is in charge of sales of laboratory testing equipment on a general scale such as those for quality testing, the Process & Analytical and Technical Support Department that is responsible for sales of analytical equipment for quantitative analysis as well as process instrumentation for online monitoring of liquid parameters, and finally the Technical Support Section that handles commissioning, installation, and start-up operations of laboratory, analytical and process instruments. Furthermore, the latter also handles the regular maintenance and calibration of instruments that are sold to their clients.
The client base includes environmental and analytical services within the agencies of the Municipalities such as Environmental Labs & Sewage Treatment Plants for their Laboratory Department and established Project Contractors for Liquid Analyzers in Water Treatment Plants for Process & Analytical Department. Lab items and reagents are also provided to other Procurement branches of Multinational Companies in the UAE and include customer in the Food & Beverage Industries as well as Environmental & Health sectors. My piece of EDITORIAL
MEET and MATCH with DUBAI DEMANDS
Written by:| Andrew S. Samson
The quest for pure water is unceasing now that everything seems a contaminant to our available water sources, thus several methods have been evidently wedging in to trial and error technical measures.
Just like in our organization, the hype of pursuing collective goals toward a better foundation is tantamount to the creation of a vital department particularly the Human Resource (HRD).
I remember Mr. Firas Awad, during my interview with him, mentioning that by restructuring parts of the organization, meeting the demands in the fast-pace requirements of Dubai does not result a burden.
As Operations Manager, he sees the importance of branching out his organization, just how we do in carrying out our project plans for water treatment. The state-of-the-art products are fitted and catered to every demand, so as the kind of services the newly born HRD does.
Long before humans learned to rub two sticks together to make fire or took a hammer and chisel in hand to carve out the first wheel, they thirsted for a pure drinking water. Thus, improving the quality of life through the quality of water is similar to improving our organization through the quality of people we have. These inevitable changes remain inevitable as progress continues.
I don’t actually speak like a veteran, however in guiding and managing the overall provision of Human Resource services, policies and programs for the entire company, with the backing from the Administration Department thought the realization of holistic interest, the HR is simply nourishing the entire organization like the processes used to make water more acceptable for a desired end-use.
More than just a football evening…
Written by:| Noemi Caraig & Andrew S. Samson
The afternoon fever of Friday, 9th of March, was merely devoted by CCG in full sport gears at Sudanese Social Club in Bur Dubai for a football career that was recently set by HR to at least ease the load after years of burning eye brows and hard work.
Teams yellow and green were initially at loggerheads at 3:30 pm with the latter as the announced winner by 2 points, followed by purple and orange teams that resulted to a 3-point-loss by orange.
The finale drew triumph from the kicking and dribbling of the victorious green team. Mr. Sameh of Fire & Safety garnered the Most Valuable Player award due to his expert free kicks and fair catches. At the end, still the team spirit and unity won the championship! There were scratches, abrasions, swellings, bruises, and the least… fracture, but the hype of pursuing the game until sunset was significantly supported by dozens of cheerers who acted as ushers, medics, and photographers as well.
HR Department is again extending its profound gratitude for the steadfast support of all departments. This is believed to be the commencement of the future scheduled football games.
More than just a football evening, it was a great time of togetherness and amusement, not to mention the encouragement of competitiveness and keeping us fit. CCG finally proved… engaging in recreation could melt tensions and pressures while spanning the distance between different nationalities.
Another GIANT LEAP for CCG with ISO recertification
Just recently, ISO 9001:2000 QMS (Quality Management System) recertification was attained by CCG through the preparation and systematic realization of the requisites. According to Mr. Sami El Azzami, Quality Assurance Manager, “the Quality Management Systems are newly certified again and the issuance of such is to be handed in haste from France by Bureau Veritas (BV),” He added, “as another objective towards continuous improvement and as the vision set by Mr. Mahmood Awad, establisher and owner, the Quality Department is preparing to certify the in-house HSE Management System through an Internationally recognized 3rd party by 2008.”
“This imperative certification is CCG’s momentous step and one which allows to certify products manufactured by CCG according to the International Standards and United Nation Codes, which will increase the opportunity for the products in the pipeline and all other business transactions ahead,” said Mr. El Azzami.
CCG is genuinely committed to change, thus maintaining its giant leap towards the realization of our company objectives, definitely SUCCESS follows.
Congratulations to the whole group! A|S

Nomination and Commendation
Through all the hype and excitement of free competition, Corodex Industries, still, plays a vital role in the market as a small desalination company. Corodex Industries was nominated for that category by the International Desalination Association (IDA) and the International Private Water Association (IPWA) for the ‘2006 Global Water Awards’.
Corodex Industries was highly commended for its unique contribution to the industrial infrastructure behind the Middle East region’s booming economies, not to mention its phenomenal increase in revenues, as the growth in manpower size and operating outlets has been discernible. A|S

Bristol after Intersec, harvesting the fruits
Bristol Fire Engineering had made it to its focal point upon joining the Intersec 2007 last January 21-23 at Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Center.
“Bristol starts to harvest the fruits of investment as it penetrates Iran, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar through communication succeeding Intersec,” as quoted by Mr. Sami El Azzami, Bristol Manager.
The collaboration of Quality Assurance (QA) and Bristol has successfully achieved CE Mark & Kite Mark certificates from Europe, as well as UL listing certificates for various products manufactured by Bristol in the UAE.
Mr. El Azzami also added, “expanding the market share and achieving new development in terms of the new fire fighting products such as the sprinklers, fire alarms, and fire extinguishers are more attainable and realistic at this juncture.” In fact, Bristol has earned trust from City Center of Bahrain and Cairo Airport in Egypt, even won a 17.9 million contract with one of the biggest commercial projects, the Capital Plaza Development in Abu Dhabi with contractors, namely, the ACC (Main Contractor), MAPCO (Electromechanic Contractor), having Meindhart as the Architectural Consultant and CRSS as Project Management Consultant.
Bristol Fire Engineering, the leader in innovative fire fighting equipment, has become one of the premier fire fighting equipment manufacturers in the Gulf. Bristol Fire Equipment maintains its reputation in the industry for its quality, dependability, and durability.
Intersec, however, was the ideal platform for numerous business opportunities, Mr. El Azzami and his team are continuously meeting decision makers in the field of fire fighting and fire prevention. This surely sounds another milestone for the Division! A|S
